Data Pads - 2020
These pieces incorporate a number of different skills and materials. The acrylic panels were etched and cut on a laser cutter after creating the design in Illustrator. The base for the upright piece was designed in CAD and printed on a resin 3D printer before being painted with spray paints and weathered with acrylics and powdered pigments.
The handheld pad was created in a similar way with the addition of a second piece of acrylic behind the etched piece. This second piece was spray painted on the back. The body for the handheld piece was lasercut, spray painted and weathered with rub n buff, a metallic powder infused wax.
Both pieces include LED strip lighting to light up the panels from the edges, creating the effect shown.
